How to apply as an International Exchange Student

If your home university has an agreement with us and you want to participate in one of the programs at Tecnológico de Monterrey in our Mexico City Campus you may apply as an International Exchange Student. To begin your admission process, we recommend you to read the following information carefully.

To submit an application to the International Programs you ought to meet the requirements and criteria established for international students before deadlines.

Candidates for January-May Semester Deadline: November 15th
Candidates for August-December Semester Deadline: June 30th

The process you should follow for your application to be considered is:

  • Fill out the complete Application Form on-line and print it. If your application is accepted, you will be required to provide this printed copy upon your arrival at the TEcnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus.
  • Take the printed Application Form to your International Advisor and make sure he/she signs and stamps it under the section "Approval" (last page).
    • Scan your Application Form.
    • Scan your Official transcript including your two most recent terms or semesters completed at the time of application. The transcript must comply with a minimum average of 80 (Mexican System) or a GPA of 2.8 (USA System).
  • E-mail all scanned documents to the International Coordinator stating:
    • Copy of your passport
    • Your complete name
    • Home university
    • Academic period you are planning to attend
    • Name and e-mail of your exchange coordinator
  • Wait for an e-mail from your International Coordinator confirming the reception of all the documents mentioned above.
  • In order to complete the process of reviewing your application documents, you need to fill in as well your information in the following link: http://www.itesm.mx/va/internacionalizacion/2_2.htm
    Once you have filled in this information, you will receive, maximum one week after its registration, an e-mail with your login and password. You will be able then to access to the second part of the registration of your details. There you will have to fill in: personal, medical and academic information. At the end of the registration, you will be asked to confirm your agreement in the corresponding part called ‘Student Statement’ and then register the application you just filled in. As the last step, you should receive within the following days an e-mail confirming your application has been fully registered.
  • If the provided documents meet the requirements and criteria to participate into our international program and you completed the whole on-line registration mentioned previously, you will receive the Acceptance letter within our acceptation package. It will be sent to your local International Office within two to three weeks after your papers were received and approved.

Registration and enrolling
Now that you received your acceptance letter, you should complete the following steps before your arrival:

We strongly suggest that you review the academic curricula contained in: www.sistema.itesm.mx/va/planes.

You may select English or Spanish language. Remember that Tecnológico de Monterrey is a multi-campus system so it is possible that not all courses you see at this link will be available at our Mexico City Campus.
Please note that most courses are available in Spanish. The courses taught in English, are usually the same each semester. You might opt for courses within both languages.

A month before classes begin, you will be informed about the updated list of academic courses and also the cultural and sport activities that will be offered by the Tecnológico de Monterrey, México City Campus during such period.

Any foreigner who wants to study in Mexico needs to obtain the corresponding visa, depending on the type and length of the studies (less or more than 180 days) and/or of his nationality.

We recommend you to check first with the Mexican Embassy and/or Consulate in your home country the requirements for students who wish to come to Mexico through a student exchange.

It is your responsibility to start the registration process of the corresponding migratory document within maximum 30 days after your arrival to Mexico. The Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Ciudad de México has no inference on the timing and procedures.

Buy our International Insurance . It is a mandatory requirement that you ought to comply with at your arrival.

  • Registration. Formalizing the incoming process as an International Student by the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City Campus Registration Procedures, will be completed upon you arrival but, you should make sure to collect the following documents before you come to México:
  • Completed, signed and stamped Application Form (the one you already filled on-line).
  • Official transcript including your two most recent terms or semesters completed at the time of application.
  • Two recent passport-size photographs (4.5 x 3.5 cms.).
  • A copy of your valid passport (picture page only).
